Overpriced below-average Thai food...and service.
Was excited to go here because an acquaintance gave it a good review and I LOVE Thai food. However, it was not a good experience. The Chicken Rama dish I ordered arrived luke warm. What made that especially tricky was that the temperature inside the place was a tad warmer than it was outside on the chilly November night we visited. I knew we were in for a cold dining experience when I saw that the hostess was wearing a big scarf (I am not making this up). Needless to say, we kept our coats on the whole time. So in order to keep my food from getting completely cold, I had to eat fast. Fortunately, I was extremely hungry so it was not a problem despite it being what seemed like microwaved strips of chicken drowning in peanut paste. My wife's dish may have been even worse. She ordered a vegetarian dish that came with soft tofu (can't remember the name). When we asked if we could get the tofu fried, the server said that that's just the way it comes. He said he can make it the NEXT time if we let him know. What he failed to realize was that since he didn't at all try to offer a solution---bring some fried tofu on the side, for example---there will be no next time. He was polite about it---and it was her fault for ordering something without reading it closely---but he should have tried to work with us. Most restaurants do. They don't normally say, well, that's just the way it comes. Come back next time and we'll cook it how you want.
All in all, a really bad experience. IF YOU'VE EVER HAD GREAT THAI FOOD, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU GO HERE. Sorry, but this is NOT great, let alone good Thai food.
OK Restaurant (if there are no other choices).
I have been to Yoong Tong Restaurant. There are plenty of delicious Thai and Japanese food choices. However, the sushi and sashimi have been JUST OKAY. The sashimi was still icy and frozen when it was served. it seems to me that they are not fresh; while it is the most important the raw fish be fresh.
On top of that, the delivery charge has been unreasonably expensive. On top of the $3-5 delivery charge, they force you to pay 15% of service charge on top of all the charges. I do not see the same charges in other restaurants. If you need a delivery, you'd better go for some other choices.
Great lunch spot.
I have only been for lunch but the food has always been fresh and great. With plenty of choices on the menu, everyone will find something fun to eat, even if they have never had Thai before. Definitely a favorite lunch spot.
The quantity of food is a little light so you won't leave feeling stuffed. I would assume the dinner portions are larger.
