Good for takeout sushi!. Bauhinia is one of the few take out sushi places in the Shrewsbury/Boylston area. Short distance is essential with sushi, since it can spoil so easily. We have been generally happy with the quality of food. Our order is always ready in 15-20 minutes and they were very gracious in correcting the one order error we've had. We've been ordering from them for three years or so.
Beware -- they charge for soft drink refills, and they don't tell you.. For the last couple years we've lived here, we've enjoyed Bauhinia for its decent Chinese food and sushi. We went there tonight after not having been there in awhile. We will not be going back again and this is why: They charged us for refills on soft drinks, to the tune of $1.75 a pop! We were not told that refills aren't free when we asked for them; and we checked the drink menu on the way out and saw that it wasn't printed there either. In our opinion, we (who each had a refill) were stolen from and taken advantage of. We had to take a few dollars off the tip we would have given the server, as we just can't afford to pay for refills as well as leave a nice tip. As a matter of principle, we won't be going back, and that's too bad because otherwise I enjoyed the food and appreciated the good service and family-friendly atmosphere.
Expensive, mediocre tasting food, obnoxious atmosphere. The place is beautiful but the food is so average yet expensive. The Chinese take-out place around the corner that has no seating has better food. Any Chinese place that charges extra for white rice when you order an entree is obnoxious and petty. They are overpriced, the food is over-fried (the egg rolls were all cabbage) and the portions are small. I would never recommend unless you just want to sit in a nice looking large restaurant.
