The Scene – Wachusett boasts more student visits per week than all of Vermont's ski areas get in a season. The central location doesn't hurt; nor does the nearby Wachusett Village Inn complex, which has made the ski area more of a multi-day destination. – – The Slopes – A 1,000-foot vertical drop packs one of the best punches south of the New Hampshire border with a 360-degree view of the Boston skyline, and the mountains of New Hampshire, Vermont and the Berkshires. State-of-the-art snowmaking blasts powder on even the toughest days. Wachusett also boasts the largest…

Best skiing area in Massachusetts

by AdibKaram

This is my first winter in New England and will definitely go back for skiing at the Wachusett Mountain.

Today was my first trip to the Wachusett after trying other skiing areas in Mass.

The location is convenient for all MA, CT, and RI residents, there is no need for a longer trip while you will find what you need what ever your skiing level is at the Wachusett.

The tracks are convenient for all kind of Skiers, from a very beginner to a Pro, the tracks are long enough the lifts are so organized and the snow quality was very good.

If you are planning a one day skiing trip and did not try it yet, just go there and you will never regret.

It's Close

Good for stretching the legs on a weekday morning or afternoon. Gets horrible when school buses show up; have seen multiple instances of skiiers getting plowed over by OOC snowboarders. Century Pass great value; nice lodge, but location is what makes this place.

  • Pros: Proximity, Great Lodge, Reasonable Price
  • Cons: , Snow quality

8.6 is too high

by binderd

It's a good beginner mountain, but that's it. The diamond trails there are equivalent to average intermediate trails elsewhere. I'm not sure why Wachusett got a higher rating than Jiminy, because it is certainly inferior.

However, it is convenient and can be good for partial-day trips.

  • Pros: Convenient and close, Inexpensive
  • Cons: Very crowded, Small
