This owner uses deceptive practices to make money for his business with no concern or regard to how it impacts his customers. Just look at the address listed - it should be 24 Mill Street not 10 Mill Street.
On Friday, December 21, 2012 we took our van in to get the sunroof checked out as we had a wet floor on the passenger side. We were told one of the seals was gone on the sunroof and it needed to be replace. We asked what it would cost and if he would be able to fix it for us - we told him we needed the van back on Monday, December 24th as our daughter needed to be back in New York for work. He told us it would cost between $300-$400, he could start the work on Saturday, December 22 and finish it on Monday, December 24th. We re-emphasized the fact that we needed the van back on Monday, December 24th and he stated it would be no problem.
We called on Monday, December 24th @ 1pm to see when we could pick up the van and he informed us it wouldn't be ready until Thursday, December 27th. He told us it was all pulled apart and he didn't have a work crew that could work on it - the work crew wouldn't be back in the shop till Thursday, December 27th. We reminded him of his commitment he made to have it ready on Monday and he simply stated 'There is nothing I can do'.
We were forced to leave it at the shop and our daughter had to call work to let me know she wouldn't be returning until Friday.
On Thursday we called for a update and were told the owner would get back to us - he never did so we had to drive down to 24 Mill Street just to see if the van was even being worked on. We had to wait for several minutes before he came out to talk with us - he told us it would be ready by 4 pm.
When we went down to pick it up the owner was rude and ignored us as much as possible. We asked about a discount since he was unable to meet the service commitment he made to us - he simply stated he had discounted it as much as possible - he had over $500 work of part and labor into the job. So again - his estimate was $300-$400, yet another deceptive statement, he charged us $410.
Before we paid the bill we checked it over to ensure the work was done, paid the bill then left. Once at home we realized that the passenger front seat was totally soaked - they had left our van outside during the snow/rain storms that we had during Christmas - what honest business owner would leave a van with a leaky sunroof outside?
There are Massachusetts and US laws that prohibit the use of 'unfair or deceptive' business practices. It's clearly obvious that the business practices used by the business owner of Sun & Sound of 24 Mill St, Worcester are deceptive given all the complaints filed against Sun & Sound of 24 Mill Street, Worcester, MA on various websites.
Something should be done to protect/warn people about the business practices used by the business owner.
We will be filing compliants with the Better Business Bureau, City of Worcester, Angies List, as well as the Attorney General's Office in order to make them aware of the deceptive business practices and to help prevent others from having to go through what we did - the stress added to our holidays was unnecessary.
Happy New Year Sun & Sound - we will never be coming back for service again!
I will definitely go back! Had an appointment for a remote starter at Sun & Sound and was told to leave it for half a day because they were really busy. I got a call 2 hours later and they told me I already had a starter in my car and they could either take the old one out and install the new one or just buy a new remote and they would program it to match what was in there already. Obviously I chose the inexpensive way and bought the remote. I think it was really honest of them to let me know there was already one in there because they could have made more money off of me to just put a new one in - I had no clue there was already a remote start in there. They had wonderful service and took the extra time to show me how to use the remote.
These Guys Are the Experts!!! – I highly recommend this place. These guys are the experts. They installed a remote car starter in my Nissan after several places told me it couldn't be done because I have a push start ignition. My remote car starter works great and the manager was very helpful in explaining how it works and all the extra features it can do. This place definitely seems to be the experts in the area whereas everywhere else I encountered had no idea what they were talking about.

Outdated Disorganized Jerk. – I had to pick up a mounting deck here for a new car stereo i purchased elsewhere that didn't have the correct mounting deck in stock. I was given an incorrect part, despite clearly stating what the year, make, and model of my car was. Not only was the part super overpriced, but it was incorrect (which I didn't notice at the time). I was pressed for time so I was unable to shop around for this part and needed it that day, to install the stereo. Found out the part was incorrect after trying to install the stereo with it and then only after noticing the packaging said it was for a different year of my car. Since they have a no refund policy, I was out of luck and stuck paying an obscene amount of money for an item that is useless to me.
The encounter with the owner while trying to return this item (only noticed there were no refunds once I went all the way back to the store) was really frustrating. It was his fault I needed to return the item in the first place, since it was the wrong part. He said because the packaging was open, he couldn't take it back. I really wouldn't have been so angry if he didn't jerk me around and make me wait 20 minutes just to tell me that. He claimed that it was impossible to modify the mounting brackets (which it isn't, it's just annoying to do) and that if the stereo got installed, how could I be returning this item? He acted like I was trying to rip him off, and return a different mounting kit in the packaging because it was "open" and he couldn't tell if it was the same part. I found this extremely mean and rude, because the truth is he sold me an incorrect part, the person installing the stereo made due with what they had, and then I didn't need the part anymore so I wanted to return it.
The whole situation was really frustrating but it was made worse with the owner's attitude and disorganization (thats what made him give me the wrong part in the first place, because there were papers EVERYWHERE). This was my only experience with this store and I will never be returning.
Sun & Sound does not service what they sell – Over the last 6 years I have purchases4 different roof racks as well as a bed liner and canvas cover for a pick up truck. Last summer was the first time I went back for service. There was a problem with a roof rack that Sun & Sound had installed two years earlier.
When I asked the owner to fix it he took one look at the rack, told me to call the manufacturer, turned around and went back inside.
I have been dealing with the manufacturer, who are based in California since. They have made some suggestions and told me to order and install parts for which I neither have the tools nor the expertise.
I wasn't looking for a free repair. I was expecting Sun & Sound to take responsibility for the products they sell. They don't
These guys know what they are doing!!! – I'm the owner of a "06" Expedition and I recently had a problem with the wiring in my car. My lights were going in and out on the dashboard. So it was dangerous driving at night. A friend told me that they fixed that kind of stuff at Sun and Sound which i didn't know. So I went down there without an appointment or anything and I was in and out of there in an hour! My lights are working fine but I went back to look around cause their service is so great I then decided to give them my business and install a brand new Rydeen rear view camera system with GPS, bluetooth, touch screen, built in speaker, and an fm transmitter if speaker isn't loud enough(which it is)all built into the rear view mirror!!! Now I love driving my truck even at $4 a gallon!!! It's made my life is so much simpler!!!
They are the best!!! – I am a woman and I have a 06 honda civic and I wanted a navigation unit put in so i can get to where I want to go cause i'm not good at directions so the people at sun and sound showed me different priced navigations that are easy to use and affordable but then I asked about a radio and they said they have a single unit that does both and also plays dvds in one single unit. What I liked was that they educated me on the different products which allowed me to make a decision not based on what they wanted to sell me but what would best fit my needs. So I ended up getting one of those that but it was very fairly priced. These guys are very nice and know what they're talking about regardless of what the other "reviews' say they treated me and other customers good and in a timely fashion. When I went to go pick my car up one of the installers spent his time showing me how to use it. I would suggest this place to anybody looking to install anything in their car...and I want to say THANK YOU for treating us woman equally
Terrible Customer service, or lack there of... – Was told to make an appointment to have a remote starter installed. Made an appointment for 10am on Saturday and brought the vehicle in that day. Was told install should be done in about 4 hours.
Showed up a little after 4 hours later to pick up the vehicle and it hadn't even been brought into their shop yet. The owner or manager on duty said "all we can do is apologize" when I asked why the installation had not been started or completed. What good is an appointment if you don't honor them...."all we can do is apologize" I was told again. Then he blamed an employee being new shouldn't have told me it would have been ready when it was going to take longer...and also that Saturday's are drop off only, not scheduled appointments, eventhough they made an appointment with me.
I am taking my business elsewhere as their customer service is extremely poor and they do not value you as a customer.
Rip-off Central – My wife purchased the remote starter from them as a Christmas gift to me on my car. Being that it came with only one remote (I later found out that this system comes with two transmitters), I called them and purchased a second transmitter for $25.00, letting them slide as I was in the Holiday Spirit. This should have been my first clue.
Unfortunately I lost my transmitter this past year and decided to go back and buy a replacement transmitter today. Well, I was told that the new unit would cost me $69.00!! I said thank you, grabbed my keys and walked away. I did some research and found the transmitter for $14.99 with shipping included, brand new and with the instructions on how to set it to your starter!
I understand that there must be some profit margin to pay for the overhead, but first they sold me back my "stole property", and finally tried to rip me off on my recent visit Sadly they are still in business and people should be aware of their selling schemes. Please do your research before you do business with these people, you can avoid many headaches.
