Ashland >Paul Albert Salon & Spa
“So accomodating, so friendly.”
This is the best salon, totally worth the drive from Boston. Ok, I have to just say this is the best salon I have been too in this state! Someone mentioned it to me and despite the drive I decided to give it a try.. I met with Dawn, the owner and ended up getting a Keratin, cut and color.. The women who work in this salon are so friendly and nice. I walked in there looking rough and ragged ( my hair I mean) and walked out feeling like a supermodel.. Dawn took her time, gave advice, and made me feel comfortable. I will be going to see Dawn on a regular basis from this point on.. I am sooo happy with the results, my hair feels healthy, strong, smooth and in the best condition it has been in a very long time.. Very worth the drive!!! I love this salon!!!
I miss the old Rayz.
How fake can you be? Ask the new owner of the salon formerly known as Rayz. I came back to the neighborhood after being out of town for a few years. I truly missed Larena and Renee. So accomodating, so friendly...I walked in feeling watched and was saddened by the chain salon feeling I got from the place.
Paul Albert is no match for the bond the old girls at Rayz had...It's lacking that family feeling now. I won't be back. I wish I knew where Larena is now that I'm back in town. Thumbs down for ultimate disappointment.
I had blow dried my hair to the point where it was breaking off.I have very fine, easily damaged hair, but a LOT of it. I had yet to find a stylist who could deal with this type of hair. I walked in to this salon, and Ada(who is the awesome stylist!) said she'd be able to cut my hair. I brought in my own products(Many products work very poorly for my hair, even in a salon.), and she was fine with it. However, when planning the appointement with the receptionist, I got asked to buy products, consider tanning, get acrylic nails(Yes, my nails are very short. But they have to be as I'm a musician), and if I wanted my roots done at the same time, or at the very least, high lights if I'm "one of those girls that "doesn't dye" their hair" said in a rude manner. I'm very fair, and a natural blonde of a shade normally not found in nature.(Yay for premature graying!) I politely told her that I don't wish to dye my hair. The receptionist then proceeded to lecture me on the dangers of drugstore dyes after I said I don't dye my hair several times.
She then also started rambling about how blowdrier and flat irons are good for hair, until Ada corrected her at my appointment that some types of very fine hair like mine probably couldn't handle it being done daily. (Which is the whole reason I was getting a haircut) I normally only get my hair cut every 6 months(I'm growing it out.), and when I went last, she gave me a great pixie. It totally got rid of damage and grew out nicely for the first few months. She's also super amazing at washing my hair! Her scalp massage made my scalp feel amazing, and my hair felt so conditioned after, even with my normal lame old conditioner. Now, my hair is a bit of a mullet, so I'm going in soon to get it fixed up. I know it's bad I don't get my hair cut more often, but I'm lazy as heck and want it to be long, so thus I'll wait. I've gotten extensions in the past and they pulled out my hair, so I'm glad Ada didn't suggest them when I told her of my goal for my hair. Hopefully, it will turn out just as good as before. The lectures from the receptionist are really annoying though. Wish they'd fix those.Sure, if you want to tan and such, that's all great, but I walk in wearing gothier clothes, with black eyeshadow and she's that rude? Ick! I didn't even mention that I'm pale, and I walked in using a parasol... Sure, my nails are short, but I didn't mention those either. Had I mentioned either of those things, I could see why she'd suggest them. I walk in, and ask when hair cuts are possible. It almost sounded like she was reading from a script as well. Then her whole stance on what hair likes and such simply because it costs more is very annoying. Plus, it reeks in there of nail polish remover if they don't have the door open.
However, that's a minor problem. Ada is a seriously talented stylist, and I really love her ablity at cutting hair. She's actually suggested deposit only dyes for me and has offered to make some up to give me some nice lowlights for winter, which I might just consider. First stylist that I know of that's heard of them! She was VERY gentle with the combing, and didn't tear out my hair at all, which is surprising! She actually gave some really useful tips on how to wash my baby fine hair without wreaking it, and suggested ways for me to extend washing it to avoid damaging it(Very fine hair shouldn't be washed daily, but it looks bad if you don't), and they've worked. My pixie looked awesome over the summer, but my hair grew like a weed after(Seriously, it got rid of that much damage!) and now it is time again.
If I can get past the pushy receptionist and the horrific smell from the back, I'd give this 5 stars. But no one likes the smell of nail polish remover, or pushy people. So, the haircuts are worth it, but... XD
wonderful experience, loved it all!!!!!!. I went to this spa I heard of through a friend. I had the best color(highlights) I had ever had in 20 years. While I was waiting for my hair to process, I decided to get a pedicure. It was by far the best pedicure I had in 20 years also. Everyone spoke english, everyone was so friendly and professional.I would definately go back, in fact I am scheduled to have a massage in two weeks. I grabbed a menu of services while I was there and I can't believe all the services the Paul Albert and Salon provides. The owner is a doll and very friendly. Ladies and gentlemen, this is your place and it is so close to everything. Thanks a lot girls, I will be back for more.
Great girls, great conversation, HIGHLY recommended pedicures!. I had my first "real" pedicure here a few weeks ago with a young girl there who was so pleasurable and fun to talk to! She did a marvelous job, worth every cent of the $40 +tip I spent. It was one hour of my time that I will be MORE than happy to repeat every month! One of the greatest salon experiences I've had and they are open on Mondays, which is so convienient for me due to my work schedule. The girl working there was alone that day and more than happy to accomodate me. I'll DEFINETLY be back to see her again and again!
