Clinton >Ristorante Via Alto
If it were possible to give negative stars, I would.
As a restaurant manager, when I go out to eat, service is everything. That being said, this establishment has quite possibly the worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. From the moment when the teenaged hostess "waved" us over to our table (we had a reservation; apparently, this means that they slap menus down on the table prior to your arrival and the hostess will wave her hand in the general direction of where they have selected for you to sit) to the end of the meal, when, after we had not seen our lackadaisical waitress for over an hour, the owner (wearing a fetching pink hoodie sweatshirt and scrunchie) had the NERVE to come back and pick up our already dropped bill to "add the auto gratuity as per policy for our group", the service was terrible and never elevated over what one would receive at an all night diner. When we spoke to the owner about our poor service, she had the nerve to say that we were "probably right" (excuse me? "Probably"?!? Next time, try "You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT") and that we could "do what we felt was fair" but that it was "not her call". Excuse me? It's not your call? Are you not the manager or the owner? If you aren't, then please let my next complaint be to the owner, who allowed people who came in to "help" serve tables in a pink hoodie sweatshirt, no makeup, and a ratty ponytail!!!
Now, as someone who has spent more than her fair share of years in the restaurant industry, I think I am more than forgiving than most when I can see that a restaurant is short-staffed (as they clearly were) and I can see that the servers are busting their asses to get their tables served. This was not the case.
And to be perfectly honest, service would have been absolutely terrible had we been the only table in the restaurant. It took us 15 minutes to get WATER, and we sat down at 5:30 pm when there were only two other tables sat. Lazy much?
