Bad service by Tanya K. at InsiderPages

The Castle hired my dad to d.j. at a function. They never offered him a plate to eat and there was no one supervising the function. The food is not worth the money!
Excellent for a night out

I have eaten here several times - in the Lounge and the Dining Room. There are seperate menus for each - and obviously the lounge is slightly cheaper. Not sure why previous comments are surprised that the Dining Room is more expensive - after all it is "fine dining" not Appleby's. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere makes it a truly unique experience. The building was built out of stone to make it look like a castle, the wait staff wear tuxedos, they even have an old-fashioned dessert cart. It is a family owned restaurant (the patriarch that opened it still cooks there) and they aim to make you feel welcome & well taken care of. I have never had a bad meal here - the clams casino are tasty and I can not say enough about the lobster bisque! I recommend getting the chateau briand for two (they can make it for one if you ask) or the steak Diane - you will be treated to a table-side flambe. And to go with one of the yummy desserts ( I recommend the Bundernusse) order a "flaming" coffee. They also have a function room here and their banquet prices are very reasonable (half the price of what I was quoted in Boston!). I had my parents' 25th Anniversary party here over a year ago and my dad is STILL raving about the food & service.
- Pros: Excellent fine dining experience, extensive wine menu, knowledgeable sommelier, ladies get a special treat in the DR, Sunday Jazz on the patio by the lake
- Cons: bit of a drive from Boston (but well worth it!)
